3.9 km, seven minutes by car — the airport is on this side of the harbour, which surprises people. A taxi is about NZ$22. Tell us your flight number and we will send a car for NZ$35 for up to four people; it waits inside, at the door, with your name on a card.
6.8 km over the harbour bridge, about twelve minutes outside rush hour and twenty-five inside it. The bus from Willow Street takes about half an hour and stops on Maunganui Road, a four-minute walk from the door.
204 km, two hours and forty minutes on State Highway 2 through the Kaimai Range. Leave a margin in the school holidays; the Kaimais can add half an hour with no warning. Rotorua is an hour south, Whakatāne an hour and a half east along the coast.
Free on site for guests, behind the house off the service lane. Thirty-eight spaces for 54 rooms, so on a full January night it fills — the overflow is the council car park two minutes' walk away and we cover the ticket. Two EV chargers, both 22 kW, no charge to use.

On from 7am to 9pm, and after that reception picks it up. Nothing on this list costs anything to arrange.
Airport pickup at NZ$35 for up to four. Taxis, rental cars delivered to the door, and a driver for the day if you want to see Rotorua without driving back in the dark.
Harbour cruises from Pilot Bay, kayaks, paddleboards, and fishing charters that reach Tūhua on a settled day. They will tell you when the forecast means don't.
Restaurants in the Mount and across the bridge in Tauranga, including the two places that never answer their phone. Tickets for whatever is on at Baycourt.
Cots, high chairs, a bath toy box at the desk, and babysitting through an agency in Tauranga with 24 hours' notice. The surf club patrols between the flags all summer.
Laundry back same day if it is in by nine. Luggage held before check-in and after check-out at no charge. Printing, couriers, and a pharmacy run when someone forgets something.
The desk will tell you when the weather means you should do something else, when a walk is beyond what you have described, and when the thing you have read about is not worth the drive.
The Beacon Room at Oceanic Manor is reserved for adults aged 20 and over, in line with New Zealand law. The rest of the hotel — the rooms, Moturiki Kitchen and The Saltwater Bathhouse — welcomes guests of every age.
